Political Cartograms: And the Ugly
Stay vertical!
For the election I've been showing some of these chartlike maps. And hoo boy shield your eyes.
Ho man. Whoowh. Kinda takes the wind out of you, doesn't it. Heek. Yeesh.
Many equal-area cartograms are hexagons. But they're usually pointy-topped "vertical" ones and I (Bad Idea Jeans) thought I'd try a horizontal. And then I (Bad Idea Jeanshorts) thought hey, let's make it chickenwire. (I worked a lot with chickenwire.) And, more bad news, the map above was just a warmup so brace yourself:
I don't like to brag but this may be the Bono Hallelujah of equal-area cartograms. And yeah, I’m talking to you, Danny Dorling.
